The 2nd episode of the podcast album series “Spin On Classical Music” exclusively featuring DG recordings by Herbert von Karajan and produced and moderated by Pia Bernauer, Head of the Karajan Archive, and Henry Ladewig, Head of Operations of the Karajan Institute, will be released this Friday. In this 2nd episode the two experts explore basic emotions and their equivalent in classical music. Of course the mood of a classical music piece changes throughout but a lot of works have an underlying sentiment. The emotions presented range from passion as exemplified by Puccini’s ‘Nessun dorma’ to the joy in Beethoven’s Pastorale to grief in Bach’s Air and surprise in Haydn’s Symphony No. 94 “Surprise”.
