Japanese guitarist KAORI MURAJI will release six stunning tracks over as many weeks in anticipation of her brand-new digital album, ‘CINEMA’, released on 22nd March on Decca Classics. A best-selling artist in her native Japan, Muraji has been signed exclusively to Decca since 2003. Her many albums include Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, Bach concertos recorded in Leipzig and a collaboration with The Sixteen and Harry Christophers.
The album features 18 hits from 20th and 21st century film, beautifully arranged for classical guitar, including the opening theme ‘Dawn’ from Pride & Prejudice and ‘May It Be’ from Lord of the Rings. Established favourites include themes from The Godfather and Schindler’s List and timeless masterpieces ‘Moon River’ (Breakfast at Tiffany’s) and ‘Deborah’s Theme’ (Once Upon a Time in America).
The release also includes the celebrated ‘Harry Lime Theme’ from The Third Man, one of Decca’s earliest – and bestselling – soundtrack singles.
Muraji’s prominence has grown over the past three decades, taking her on an extraordinary journey to the finest concert halls of Europe and Asia. She notably performed for Joaquin Rodrigo shortly before his death in 1999, arguably the most celebrated composer of classical guitar music in the 20th century.
Kaori Muraji’s release offers listeners a stunning journey through the world’s most loved film music, reimagined for the virtuosic classical guitar.
