. . . [Blomstedt concentrated on the core repertoire], bringing a discipline and depth to the sound while allowing the enseble's natural litheness and flexibility full reign. Decca's 15-CD set features many of the partnership's highlights . . . The playing is generally magnificent and internal balance beautifully handled . . . [Sibelius]: the very clear sound picture works very well for this music (the opening of the First being particularly atmospheric) . . . [Berwald Symphonies]: he delivers delightfully poised readings . . . Orff's "Carmina Burana" is first-rate -- thrillingly played, lustily sung and stunningly recorded.

La Symphonie no. 9 de Schubert compte parmi les vraies réussites du coffret, impétueuse, implacable dans sa gestion des tempos qui n'exclut pas une certaine poésie . . .
