. . . this recording certainly has a vitality and attention to detail which is compelling, above all in the more difficult, complex rhythmical demands of the scherzo. Chung's playing appeals particularly to the capricious side of Walton's score -- the stylish Neapolitan canzonetta is delightful -- but there is also a maturity to the longer paragraphs (such as the cadenza).
