This is the first of two new concerto discs featuring Viktoria
Mullova playing on gut strings, with two great period instrument ensembles.
(The Beethoven and Mendelssohn concertos with Sir John Eliot Gardiner
will be released in 2003.)
Viktoria Mullova returns in style to the classical stage with her debut
Mozart recording both playing and directing the Orchestra of the Age of
Enlightenment, one of the most respected period intsrument ensembles.
Mullova plays her regular Stradivarius set up with gut strings and performs
Ottavio Dantone's cadenzas.
Viktoria Mullova is among the most exceptional violinists of modern times,
and her acclaimed recordings are established at the heart of the Philips
catalogue. She has performed with most of the world's greatest orchestras
and conductors and at all the major international festivals.
