RECORDING INFORMATION

Quite a remarkable and daring issue on Duo but definitely worth it!

This is a unique compilation presenting the best of Alban Berg’s music and also the best performances of it. The Violin Concerto, for instance, is performed by Gidon Kremer, one of the best violinists alive and highly disciplined in contemporary music. The Piano Sonata is given by Alfred Brendel, perhaps the best pianist alive.

In terms of appeal, this issue is likely to be successful as it provides a handy cross-reference of Alban Berg’s works in quality recordings on two CDs for the price of one CD and in that respect it’s a unique release.
