TRACKLISTING Piano Concerto No.21 in C major, K467 “Elvira Madigan” |
RECORDING INFORMATION Radu Lupu's only Mozart Concerto recordings for Decca are now coupled with the one of the great chamber works in the repertory for piano and wind, the sublime Quintet in E flat major, K452, to produce a generously-filled programme lasting over 75 minutes. When the original LP of the two concertos was released in early 1975, Stephen Plaistow in his Gramophone review described the album as "... among the best records of Mozart concertos to have appeared in recent years. [Lupu's] taste is exquisite. So is his technical polish." ... the review concludes "there is nothing here that is cold or mechanical or even merely elegant... the playing is vividly articulate: aptly weighted, justly accented, and as vocal in feeling as one might say the music is vocal in inspiration". |
