RECORDING INFORMATION

This is the first recording collaboration between conductor Valery Gergiev and pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. The personalities of these two outstanding artists are very complementary: Gergiev is famous for his extremely energetic, fiery performances, while Thibaudet has a highly expressive style excelling in the Romantic repertoire.

This is also one of Valery Gergiev's first recordings with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, of which he is Artistic Director, and with which he will further explore the symphonic and concerto repertoire.

The two concertos by Grieg and Chopin belong to the greatest masterpieces of the piano repertoire. They transcend classification, as they are at the same time romantic, expressive, passionate, delicate, melodic and rhythmic. They are among the most recorded and best-selling works in the classical repertoire.
