RECORDING INFORMATION
Released in 1999, the 3-CD box set of the complete Beethoven Piano Concertos with Alfred Brendel and the Wiener Philharmoniker under Simon Rattle (Philips 462 781-2) has already achieved legendary status and sold over 80,000 copies worldwide.

Now these great recordings are available on three single discs, released as part of the ongoing celebration of Alfred Brendel's 70th year and his residency at the Salzburg Summer Festival 2001.

The release coincides with the release of Alfred Brendel Live in Salzburg (taken from previously unreleased recitals in 1984/1985 on Philips
470 023-2).

"The relationship between the Wiener Philharmoniker and Alfred Brendel, which dates from 1955, reached a temporary climax with this recording of Beethoven's piano concertos. It is an instance of one of those rapports between this ensemble and some few great artists which is hard to explain but whose existence is very real"

Dr Clemens Hellsberg, Wiener Philharmoniker (from original booklet note)

The recordings were made in the Musikverein, Vienna, from late 1997 through 1998.
