Rafael Kubelík seemed to have recovered his career rather quickly after having been chased out of Chicago by Claudia Cassidy, the local music critic. He moved on to Vienna, where he found an orchestra perfectly attuned to his warm, gentle musicianship, the Vienna Philharmonic. He also found a recording company which realised instantly that a great conductor and a great ensemble had found each other.
Recorded in Decca's finest monaural sound of the period, here, for the first time on CD, are ALL of Dvorák's delightful Slavonic Dances.
