REISSUES

The first twenty releases of The Singers feature such legendary names as Renata Tebaldi, Joan Sutherland, Leontyne Price, Teresa Berganza, Luciano Pavarotti, Franco Corelli, George London and Nicolai Ghiaurov. Each lavishly produced enhanced CD features a selection of their finest performances, many of which have never been available on CD before. As part of the unique package each disc comes equipped with extensive CD-ROM features, including a beautifully reproduced image gallery with many previously unpublished photographs, extensive biographic, musical and discographic information, complete sung texts and links to website features.

The discs have been painstakingly remastered from original tapes using 96kHz 24Bit Super Digital transfer techniques. The distinguished critic and vocal authority John Ardoin supervised the selection of titles for this first series if issues and wrote many articles before his untimely death earlier this year. Other vocal authorities such as Alan Blyth have contributed informative articles filled with personal reminiscences of some of the greatest singers of this or any other age. Decca Music Group President Costa Pilavachi has praised this as: "The most significant and beautiful gathering of great singing on disc."

What distinguishes this series from any other is the meticulous attention to detail both on the discs and in the packaging. These are truly "deluxe" collections of great singing, designed to entertain and delight the eye as well as the ear and equipped to make use of today's technology. Beyond this first issue of twenty legendary singers, the Decca Music Group is already preparing a further issue of another thirty great voices in the months to come.
