RECORDING INFORMATION
Oscar Wilde and the Aesthetic Movement are the inspiration for Patience in which Bunthorne and Grosvenor, rival poets, pale and sensitive, compete with a swaggering band of Dragoons for the attentions of the milkmaid Patience and the “Twenty Love Sick Maidens”.

The D’Oyly Carte Patience comes up superbly in its digitally remastered format … the D’Oyly Carte soloists, chorus and orchestra have never sounded better … both Bunthorne and Grosvenor are well played while the military numbers, led by Donald Adams in glorious voice, have an unforgettable vigour and presence.
