RECORDING INFORMATION
The Mikado is by far the most popular and most frequently performed of all the
Savoy operas. The tale of how Ko-Ko, the tailor, becomes Lord High Executioner of Titipu
and nearly looses his own head includes such favourites as “Three little maids from school”,
“The flowers that bloom in the spring”, and “Tit willow”.

The 1973 stereo re-recording of The Mikado by the D’Oyly Carte company directed by Royston Nash is a complete success in every way and shows the Savoy tradition at its most attractive.
The digital re-mastering for CD adds to the brightness: its effect is like a coat of new paint so that the G&S masterpiece emerges with a pristine sparkle. Musically this is the finest version the D’Oyly Carte company have ever put on disc … .
