Jessye Norman celebrates Christmas in two beautiful cathederal settings.
'Jessye Norman at Christmas' combines two outstanding Christmas programmes that were hugely successful on VHS. The first was Christmastide, a carol concert filmed in the UK, at Ely's stunning Gothic cathedral in 1987, and including many favourite classic carols such as 'Silent Night' and 'Adeste fideles'. This wonderful, atmosopheric occasion is twinned with a sacred concert from France's most famous Gothic cathedral, Notre Dame in Paris. Filmed in the early 1990s, this second programme focussed on sacred music, featuring popular works by Handel, Bach, Bizet and Gounod, as well as several Gospel songs from America.
At a combined total of over two hours, this value-for-money DVD coupling offers contrasting but complementary Christmas concerts, making it the perfect gift for the Christmas season. The DVD will also feature a new DTS 5.1 Surround, as well as LPCM Stereo.
