House, New York, ‘Pavarotti and Levine in Recital’ captures
the great Italian tenor in his prime – accompanied by the distinguished
pianism of the MET’s music director, James Levine.
Providing the ideal companion programme is ‘Pavarotti and the
Italian Tenor’. Filmed in Pavarotti’s home town of Modena,
the tenor discusses and pays homage to his illustrious predecessors.
As well as archival footage of Caruso, Schipa, Gigli and Di Stefano,
Pavarotti himself performs several songs (none of which are found
in the MET recital).
For the first time, the ‘Recital’ concert will also be available
in DTS surround sound, as well as CD-quality stereo. Extras will include
the new Pavarotti & Friends DVD Collection trailer (9 mins) and
the DVD Showreel (18 mins).
The DVD release will also be available in a special-price ‘Pavarotti:
The DVD Collection’ 3 DVD box set (074
3072), accompanied by ‘Pavarotti in Central Park’ and
‘Pavarotti: 30th Anniversary Gala Concert’.
