She has given us her immortal ‘Desdemona’ in Verdi’s "Otello" (with Solti and Pavarotti) Mozart’s Countess in Figaro, two Strauss heroines, "Arabella" and "Capriccio" and a variety of oratorios and recitals. Though she hinted that her famous 50th birthday concert recorded on Decca would signal the swansong of her career, Dame Kiri (as is the prerogative of any soprano!) has to everyone’s delight decided "not yet" and continues to concertise and sing opera around the world.
