Blessed with the most beautiful soprano voice of her generation, this New Zealand native has been featured on countless Decca recordings ranging from opera to popular song. She has given us her immortal Desdemona in Verdis "Otello" (with Solti and Pavarotti) Mozarts Countess in Figaro, two Strauss heroines, "Arabella" and "Capriccio" and a variety of oratorios and recitals. Though she hinted that her famous 50th birthday concert recorded on Decca would signal the swansong of her career, Dame Kiri (as is the prerogative of any soprano!) has to everyones delight decided "not yet" and continues to concertise and sing opera around the world.
