your comments Thank you for your courage and your vision for giving the concert in Georgia. We need more musicians and artists who , in the spirit of Slava Rostropovich, are able to express their outrage and humanity through their art for ALL the people. I'm a fellow musician in the USA and would love to shake your hand someday. Thank you, my friend thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!

I recommend your admirers your CD with Mahler's 6th symphony. recorded live with LSO, for its romantic colour and tragic pathetism. Watching you in Paris on March 9 simply fascinated me. Listening to it, I realized your exceptionally fiery interpretation. Thank you again and again !

A glorious moment on 26th February 2008: you descending the stairs in the Concertgebouw to conduct the Wiener Philharmoniker. It was here where on Saterday 20th January 1990 my passion for classical music started: you conducted the RFO in an overwhelming 4th Symphony of Sjostakovitsj (you waved the score afterwards!). Maestro! This is a priveldge. I have watched or listened to most of your concerts this year on tv or radio. When I watch you on tv, i can see what a masterful conductor you are. You make the orchestra, eg the LSO, sound so at one with themsevles. Its truly magical and with the minimum of gestures too, unlike some of the more flambouyant colleages of yours. your comments Maestro Gergiev: My wife and I heard-saw you conduct in Cincinnati this past week. We also saw, here in Louisville, the Met Opera simulcast of "Eugene Onegin." In both cases your service to music was exemplary. Thank you so much on the behalf of those of us who see the dangers in a post modernist world that, in some cases, takes us back to the jungle. Nothing helps clear the path back to the trees more than our subscription to the doctrine of cultural relativism. JL

Dear Maestro, How wonderful to not only see you and the Mariinsky perform in Ann Arbor last weekend, but meet you as well. Such electric performances of Shostakovich, particularly the 11th and the 13th symphonies, could have been no one else but Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky, the vibrant conductor and the orchestra with clear emotional connections to him. I hope you liked the Michigan hat! Your graciousness will always be remembered. Spacebo, Kelly

dear maestro we recently had the HONOR of hearing you and the Kirov orchestra in Naples Florida. we were deeply astounded at the pleasurable sound we heard. With both of us being Professional musicians we know what good music sounds like. Please come back soon. P.S. Do you and the Kirov have a cd out with Pictures at an Exihibition, that was our favorite piece of the performance.

I came all the way from Montreal to hear you and the Kirov in Toronto on April 22, 2005. What a wonderful concert. I wish also to thank for the record you made of my favorite composer Berlioz, I wish someday you will record him again. God bless you Maestro.

Dear Maestro Gergiev, Yesterday I heard the performance of Die Walkure from Met on the radio. A stunning performance. You are probably the greatest Wagner conductor of our time. So isn't it time you make a recording of one of his operas? I also really like your Mussorgsky recordings.

Maestro Gergiev, you and the entire orchestra has transfixed us musically at Roy Thomson Hall last night. We were all swept away. I so look forward to having that same feeling again this evening. I wish Russia was closer to Canada so we could hear you all the time. Grazie Maria
