This Hercules of dramatic tenors shone brilliantly for three decades after the Second World War and Decca was fortunate to have del Monaco as an exclusive artist for all of his important recordings. Perennial partner to Renata Tebaldi, they recorded all the great Puccini and Verdi operas. Del Monaco’s musical enthusiasms were wide and he left a rich variety of solo recordings ranging from sacred music to Neapolitan song.
