Debut: 1955, The Tanglewood Music Fetival, Lenox, Massachusetts USA
The founding members of this long-lived and celebrated trio were pianist Menahem Pressler, violinist Daniel Guilet and 'cellist Bernard Greenhouse. Personnel changes over the decades have not changed the fire and precision of its style and Menahem Pressler is still the pianist.
The Beaux Arts Trio carries on the tradition of virtuosos coming together to make chamber music. It is a noble tradition stretching back to the time of Franz Liszt and the Beaux Arts most celebrated predecessor in the 20th century was the starry ensemble of
Pablo Casals, Alfred Cortot and Jacques Thibaud.
The trio has recorded extensively for Philips over the first five decades of its career and nearly the entire important literature for trio is in the catalogue. The trio continues to travel extensively throughout the globe.
