Decca Classics Signs Exclusive Solo Recording Contract With Leonidas Kavakos
This week Decca announced that they have signed an exclusive contract with one of the world’s finest violinists, Leonidas Kavakos. Andreas Scholl Wins BBC Music Magazine Award For Best Vocal Album
Decca countertenor Andreas Scholl has won the vocal category of the prestigious BBC Music Magazine Awards 2012, for his Decca album O Solitude.
Jorge Luis Prats reappears in the international scene and releases his debut album for Decca Classics
When a pianist in his mid-fifties makes his Decca debut release, you can be sure that there is a story attached. Prats was a prodigiously talented young pianist in the early 1970s, but the young Cuban had then to decide whether to leave his native country and young family for an international career abroad - and naturally chose to stay with his family. Only recently did he return to the international stage, giving key recitals in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw in 2008. Decca’s debut CD with Jorge Luis is the live recital he gave in the Sala Mozart, in the new arts centre in Zaragoza.
Renée Fleming wins top French music prize
A prestigious new “victory” for “The People’s Diva”. At Monday evening’s presentation in Paris of the 2012 Victoires de la Musique Classique, Decca Classics superstar Renée Fleming was awarded the Victoire d’honneur. In bestowing the prize on the American soprano, the jury referred to her “incomparable talent”, “limitless repertoire” and “acclaim on every major international opera stage”
